I had a great discussion on Skype, with a man who said he saw God in me. I asked if this was intuition, optimism or kindness. He went on to say, without answering my queries, we should see God in everyone. But can we see something of God in all people?
Sure, something of God should be seen in people.
There is after all a Common Grace in all people.
But there is much more to receive than just Common Grace.
You might think that Saving Grace is a good one to go for and you’d be right. I’d say it was the best thing any human being could have.
Common Grace is the one that is free for all. Everybody gets some at birth. It’s a birthright. Because we are human. Its like you get a prize for being born. This is why even the worst of us can be kind at times if it’s only to our grannies.
I think of my website. That’s the basic type that you get for free with the adverts, you didn’t order, popping up. But still its nice to have something for free. You get it for the asking. No commitment on your or my part at all.
Now an upgrade costs something. But it gives us a great deal more than the entry level version
But Saving Grace, my real topic, is the excellent upgrade to Common Grace. Infinitely better. If there is something better for me to have, then I want it! Don’t you? My present website has disadvantages. Please look and see what I mean. I must put up with the free adverts. I don’t necessarily agree with all that is said there, above my own contributions; I cannot have all the pages and services I want.
But the upgrade means that I can have what is the best for me.
Speaking spiritually now, Common Grace shows God’s kindness to all of us. His love for every human creature in fact. Mercy towards us whilst we live on the earth. It has its limitation. It has an expiry date. It has no effect when we desire to be part of God’s kingdom on this earth, to become a Christian in fact., so as to have a true relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Finally, it stops just when you need Grace, to enter eternity when you die. for that salavation is required - beforehand!
That is the day that we die. When Common Grace, like the sand in an hourglass, has run out. No-commitment-Grace has gone past its use-by date. Its a day for judgement of how we have lived our lives; how we have responded to god’s call during our lives. Failing to qualify on that day means losing everything in eternity.
But Saving Grace, the upgrade, lasts for all eternity. Overturns our sins, removes the punishment, places us into a right relationship with God and takes us into eternity.
It guarantees that the kindness of God will be with us for always and always. Why have I written Saving Grace in red, the colour of blood? Perhaps it’s a reminder that Jesus Christ shed his own blood on the cross of Calvary, to bring Saving Grace and make it available to all who believe in him.
That great advantage can only be obtained when we put our trust in the sacrifice of God’s own son, the Lord Jesus Christ, for our entire Salvation and commit ourselves to him.
Have you, will you commit yourself to Jesus? What about today?
